Annunziata (Anna) Bridges worked in a furniture/ furnishings factory. Her
specialty was window draperies and coverings. She had been known to spend
many hours with pins in her mouth, staring at the walls.
Anna's family came from Sicily and landed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Eventually, Anna's father Vincent moved the family to New York because of the flooding problems with the Mississippi River. After a short time, Vincent would one day come home from work and inform the family that he had changed their last name from Congema to Cangene. All their mail was affected. This continued for a few years until one day Vincent decided to change the family name back to Congema. The Cangene name was never to be mentioned again. No explanation was ever given.
